As the album release date draws near, I need to write about someone without whom, this album would not exist. Sarah Waffle (host and creator of the gaming vlog Critical Brix) is my amazing wife and definitely the force behind the business of Megathruster. In fact, when I moved up to the Portland area, it was her idea to get me back into the game, creating nerdy songs and becoming a part of the amazing nerd music scene here. She has worked tirelessly behind the scenes on social media and her skills with strategic planning have been invaluable. So even though she may not have any “musical” talent in the traditional sense, she has been an integral part of the Megathruster journey. She has more than earned her “Executive Producer” credit for sure.
Also, I would be remiss if I didn’t also confess that many of the best song ideas on the album were hers. Now normally, I cannot stand when someone says to me, “Hey! You should write a song about eggs! Or this! or that!” I like to come up with ideas that ring true to me and my experiences. But as Sarah is the smartest and funniest woman I have ever known, she quickly became my muse. I listened when she said, “You should do a song about this Cards Against Humanity card” and “You should do a song called It’s Rough to be a Hufflepuff” and “Battfleck is going to be awful. You should do a song about that”. (That last one turned into “It’s Not Out Yet”) So if you enjoy the album, she definitely deserves a big hug and a kiss. Well, you can tell her “thanks” and leave the hugs and kisses to me.
